Warrior: A person who shows or has shown great vigor, courage, or
aggressiveness, as in athletics.
Yep, that was our boys tonight. What I enjoy most other than Owosso not
getting a win over us, is watching the improvement of our team from their first
game to tonight, and we are only at game 3 with a lot of season left. They were
working together with great vigor, courage and aggressiveness to improve their
With Labor Day and the first day of school behind us, it’s time to get
serious right? Not that the Waverly Warrior boys soccer team hasn’t been.
After a defeat by the Easter Quakers, our boys, our warriors were able to
improve their game and team work to hold Grand Ledge to a 0-0 game last
Wednesday. Tonight our Warriors took on Owosso, keeping them at bay as
well. While Owosso scored first, our Warriors showed up in full force to play
and play hard. Thank you Warrior #13, Martin Bennett for tonight’s goal!
I have to throw a shout out to two other teammates who model what it means to
be a Warrior as well: Nick Thiel, our goalie, who for at least the last two
games has literally thrown himself into the game, or rather on the ball
preventing MANY possible goals for the other team! That boy doesn’t even
bounce! What a WARRIOR! And the second is # 11 Nick Orsborn, who "really had
his head in the game tonight." Literally, Nick used his head to deflect the
ball away from our net into the opponents territory. What a WARRIOR!!!
Proud of our entire Waverly Warrior boys……ok, and can we be real, when you
fight that hard on the field, they become Warrior Men!
WE (the coaches, soccer boosters, and parents) invite you to join us
tomorrow September 5 @ 6:30 on the Waverly Field to cheer on our team and see
this Warrior action for yourself. GO WARRIORS!!!
